Sodium Hydroxide
Also known as caustic soda, sodium hydroxide has many uses, including making soaps, detergents, paper, rayon, cellophane, and aluminium. It is also used to make drain and oven cleaners, and clean wood articles. This product is covered by BS EN 896:2012 (used to treat water) and BS 4130:1984 (specifications for technical grades of sodium hydroxide).
Ethylene
Certified to BS ISO 7382:2023, ethylene is a building block to produce plastics, polymers, and industrial chemicals. Ethylene is primarily used to make food packaging, bottles, bags, pipes, and toys.
Propylene
Propylene is largely used to make polypropylene – a plastic resin used to manufacture apparel, plastic squeeze bottles, and outdoor furniture. Furthermore, propylene oxide is used to make furniture, automotive parts, boats and recreational vehicles, appliances, solvents, and resins. This product is available in all British Standard ranges.
Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA)
This white crystalline commodity powder is an important organic compound used as a precursor to thermoplastics, such as PET (polyethylene terephthalate). Products from PTA include polyurethanes, powder coating resins, polyester fabrics, films, and plastic bottles. Potential main valve challenges in PTA production include corrosion, slurries, and crystallization. The raw materials of acetic acid and PTA are highly corrosive even after the slurry process.
